General Notes
Note
The end of the fossil exposed to the elements is bleached by the sun. As you can see, the end piece is broken off and missing, having broken and rolled away, probably buried in the sediment again farther down the wash channel. The darker color of the bone is the part that was still buried in the sediment encasing and protecting the bone, even though the fossil was cracked, it held together. Once exposed, it would only be a matter of years before the pieces would be washed away and scattered. The bone was glued together with Duco Cement and urethane varnished.
