General Notes

Note

This fossil vertebra was found in a grass pasture in approximately 1969 not far from the badlands. Someone had evidently found it and either set it there or left it there by accident. If they were on foot, it is quite heavy and might have been just too much to carry. Or if on horseback it would have been awkward to carry for any long distance and was set down in the grass, maybe to retrieve at some other time, or the novelty wore off and abandonded the treasure. After I found this while crossing the grass pasture to hike in the badlands, I decided to scour the surrounding hills and see if I could find the rest of the dinosaur. I was never able to find the slightest hint of where it came from, and I am sure the location will remain a mystery forever.
