2020.2_OHDescription
"Still Life: Flowers" was created by Sara May Love, one of the Gadsden Arts Center & Museum founding members. This painting features a vase of freshly bloomed flowers of red, lavender, white, and yellow sitting atop a varnished wooden table. Love conveys the texture of the wood beautifully against the contrasted shadows and the faint mirror reflection of the vase. Behind the vase is a faded yellow backdrop that compliments the vibrant flowers on view. This painting is part of the Gadsden Arts Organizational History Collection, a subsection of the Permanent Collection that consists of art and artifacts that are items of historical, cultural, or other institutional significance to the history of the Bell & Bates Building and the Gadsden Arts Center & Museum.Collection
