Standing at over 16 inches tall, O.L. Samuels carved a tall, slender figure capturing viewer's attention as to who or what this creature might be. The Tallahassee artist carved intricate facial details on the figure, emphasizing its possible mythical existence. This is most likely an early work by Samuels as he added his signature glitter paint later in his career.

O.L. Samuels (1931-2017) O.L. Samuels began to carve wood after a serious accident kept him in a wheelchair for several years. Samuels works mainly with found wood objects such as tree trunks, roots, and old wood furniture. He is known for his imaginary images, dreamlike figures, and mythical creatures, each of whom come with a story about its existence. O.L. Samuels now lives in Tallahassee with his wife, using his living room as a workshop.
