Description

Entirely hand-stitched dress (Second or Half Mourning) made of fine black silk satin. Graduated pleats over the bust from shoulder to center front waist (moderately high and pointed) with a very wide shallow neckline. The bodice is lined with white PW glazed cotton with bones at sides, center front, bust and center back. Closed in back with brass hook and eyes. Sleeves lined with blue-gray PW cotton and have fine pleats at the top and are restrained by a piped band above very full sleeves which are narrowed by fine pleats over the forearm and restrained by fine satin bands. Skirt is pleated onto a wide twill tape, gauffered in the rear and attached to the bodice interior at the bones and hem faced with dark brown PW glazed cotton.
