G2013.023Description
Girl’s sunbonnet made of thin light blue plain weave cotton, entirely hand stitched. The front edge of the crown is gathered over cord and attached to the brim which is stiffened with scalloped rows of cording, the front edge cut in scallops with buttonholed finish. The curtain is gathered over cord with a simple narrow hem. Self-faced, lined with coarse white cotton (hand woven?). Tiny trace of original tape tie on one side. The crown is shaped with a doubly-curved dart up the center back. Given the appearance of the blue, it looks like maybe a Prussian blue.Collection
