Description

Entirely hand-stitched girl's dress made of percale fabric. Deeply scooped neckline with center front opening fine cotton drawstrings run around the entire neckline; one missing from below the gathered high-bodice panel; large bell shaped short sleeves; very high waist. Bodice is speculated to be lined with woven linen with floating panel in front; sleeves (embroidered as a piece and inserted in the armscye without being cut to shape. Trained skirt made of two pieces, seamed center back and center front; multiple-box pleated in the back and the center back bodice is layer-pleated to converge at the center back waist; skirt has deep embroidered border of floral swag pattern executed in white linen tambour, satin and stem stitches; double buttonholed VanDyke hem; embroidery on sleeves is finely done.
