Description

Hand stitched fine linen, embroidered with linen. Crown detached except for a few stitches holding it to the opened brim. All edges hemmed. Front edge trimmed with flat linen lace, simply made, almost crude. Ipswich? Small piece of reseau used as center in crown, with needlerun floret. Design is mostly French knots, odd chain stitch, fagotting forming stripes with scrolls, zigzags, and graceful tailing vines with leaves filled with more reseau. Braided linen drawstrings in tiny casings across back , 2 near front.
