Infant’s cap made of fine percale, French style with round insert in crown. There is an insert of net in the CB either to enlarge the cap or to replace the bulk of what would have been a seam ridge right beneath the infant’s head. There is a tiny flat linen braid drawstring and casing around the crown, and another in the front of the brim which reaches only from ear to ear. Expertly embroidered with white cotton in a stylized flower and leafy branch design using satin stitch, outline stitch, French knots and eyelets, some of which have simple needlelace fillings. Drawn thread work outlines each casing and the back seams.
