Mantle with overcape in orange and brown printed diagonal ribbon telis on blue velvet ground, passementerie edging with interlaced knotted looped fringe.
Celf-length mantel wtih deep dape, no collar, high round neckline. Front opening with a few reamining small hooks opposite miniscule thread loops. Thin wadding trhoguhout, delicately quilted in place on the front lining. Long narrow sleeves whose ends are turned to the inside for about 3" and stitched in place. They show evidence of being worn that way for some time. Lined with beige glazed lining cottong, except for the front edges of both the coat and cape which are lined with now-browning l=thin silk, once lavendar-blue from Logwood. Cape is about hip length, rounded in front, trimmed with heavy twisted fringe braid with traces of pinkish and lavender hue, overall appearing tan.
The print was popular look for the decade and odten rainbow printed but this was NOT. The cloth had fine, dense, suede-like hand.Collection
