Description

Entirely hand-stitched man’s tailcoat made of dark brown broadcloth. Medium high-standing collar and notched lapel. Double-breasted with a waist seam and no side seam. 12 concave, smooth gilt brass buttons with omega shanks. Knee-length squared tails with pockets on each side. 4 more gilt buttons at tops and bottoms. Pocket inside the proper left front tail. False pocket flaps in the side waist. Side backs are lined with brown cotton lining cambric quilted over cotton batting. Medium narrow sleeves, smooth caps, with added cuff band with two black cloth-covered buttons at placket; not distinctly shaped over the top of the hand. Sleeves lined with white cotton except for brown cotton facing at the wrist; brown cotton at side body. Finely made. For a portly man, perhaps not especially tall.
