Description

Infant's Dress (a) - made of plain weave cotton and embroidered netting tape. Yoke has vertical pleats in cotton with lace insertion and vertically spaces. High round neckline. Yoke is trimmed with flounce of netting tape. Long sleeves are full. Wristband is made of a cotton strip with netting tape over top. Simple skirt extending down from yoke, attached with simple gathering and finished inside with piping in seam. 3 tucks are across bottom hem then lace netting tape panels, then 3 more tucks, then a flounce of tucks edged with more lace tape netting. The center back closure of ties / ribbons which were not present at time of donation - added at time of accession for sake of closure. Note (b) - Came with note that says "'Dorothy's first short dress.' Worn by Dorothy after she was taken out of long gowns."
