Context

Thomas Cole's painting, "View of the Catskill Mountain House, N.Y.," engraved and published in London in 1830, inspired this transfer-printed scene. Several Staffordshire potters reproduced engravings of the Catskill Mountain House, a popular resort overlooking the Hudson Valley.
