Description

Entirely hand-stitched dress made of green, blue, black, red, and white wool plaid that closely resembles the Hunting Rose tartan. Bishop sleeves. Front hooked closure. Cuffs. No side back seams. Skirt lined only near hem. Bodice lined with heavy cotton. 2 bodice darts on each side; no boning. Sleeve fullness tacked up inside elbow. There is a pocket. Black wool braid hem edging. Hem faced with brown printed cotton. Round waist seems particularly high in proportion to arm length, as might be suitable for maternity wear. Due to the skirt being short not only was this used for maternity wear but for a short person. Possibly reform-minded; informal.
