Description

Entirely hand-stitched child's dress with jacket made of fine peach wool. Embroidered with ivory silk floss for the buttonhole, chain, and satin stitches. French knots forming scallop and floral patterns around yoke, sleeves, and skirt. Tiny red rimmed inkwell China buttons. Dress (a) - smooth, low-waisted wide bodice with a triangular panel outlined in scallops. Fairly short gathered skirt, and short scarf sleeves with slit at top joined with a pair of buttons at top. Scallops on neck and sleeve edges. Floral border above hem angles up toward the center front. Jacket or Sacque (b) - long flaring sleeves slit along outside. Scalloped edges joined at shoulders by lacing of floss.
