Description

Entirely hand stitched cream colored thin silk brocade, moire stripes alternating with columns of lilacs (?); red selvage threads. Skirt cartridge pleated in CB, the rest shirred & gathered, except for flat area in CF; edge finished with fine binding. Unlined; hem faced with thin cotton mull. Bodice is separately attached to skirt; pointed nearly normal level waist. CF seam and 2 long bust darts are piped and boned. Side seams boned. False SB seams. Hook and eye closure in CB. Wide low neckline, bertha collar extending over shoulders, slightly pointed in front and back. Elbow length sleeves tucked at top; slightly puffed in next tier, and very puffed in third one. Pusher lace with hand run cordonnet, frill whipped to sleeve edges, seems period.
