G2004.130Description
Entirely hand-stitched infant boy's dress made of fine white. High-waisted bodice gathered into the scooped neck with bound edge and drawstring. Inset waistband made of embroidered insertion (same as on 2004.131) forming casing for fine tape ties run along the top and bottom edge. Short double-puffed sleeves with cuff bands trimmed, like the neck, with Ayrshire edging. Long skirt gathered into waistband evenly all around. Unusually detailed embroidered insertion set with piping above the deep hem. The skirt front has vertical (not angled) robings on either side of a central embroidered strip with an eyelet center ‘vein’. The satin stitched designs are not Ayrshire, and look a lot like the work on the chemisette with the drawn thread sections, varied here, and the spiky flowers.Collection
