Description

Entirely hand-stitched dress with matching pantalettes made of thin, light tan gingham checks. Dress (a) - has a high waist with a wide waistband with a pointed end in the back. Secured with 3 pairs of brass hooks and eyes. Calf-length skirt with deep hem and tucked above hem. The bodice gathered into the low, straight neck and angled into the waist. The edge is piped and bound with bias; shoulder straps are finished the same. Double-piped faux side back seams; piped armscyes, long sleeves full at the top and tapered to the wrist. Hook at CB. Lined with heavy cotton at the sides. Pantalettes (b) - ankle length, have gingham basted to the basic garment. The bodice is a basic cotton rectangle with cutouts for underarms, and linen tapes as drawstrings at the front & back neck, and waist. Wide cotton tape shoulder straps. Legs are cut full from what appears to be coarser, home-woven cotton. Opens to the waist.
