Description

Child’s dress with pantalets or trousers, entirely hand stitched. Made of dull gold wool challis. Yoked dress has waistline at sides and back only, where the skirt is inserted with narrow pleats into the bottom edge of a faux belt. Short, straight sleeves cut with an inverted V hem; high round neckline. Flat steel buttons with cut edges lined up the center of the sleeves and down the back which is secured with concealed hooks and eyes. Elaborate meander pattern of matching braid is worked over the sleeves, yoke, and down the side fronts outlining the suggestion of a frock coat. Bodice lined with white cotton. Matching pantalets or trousers have braid around the hems; seem to be calf length. Brown cotton waistband; lined completely with white cotton. Side openings, 2 side pearl buttons and 1 in the back, not the front. This allows it to stay on while the front is dropped.
