Entirely hand-stitched dressing gown made of nankeen. Yoke with wide curved collar pointed in back with a faced hem. Straight body pleated onto yoke all around. Wide sleeves with pleats at top and wrist retained with 2 rows of tan silk chain-stitch. Cuffs have a hook and loop closure. Back and front pleats retained at high waist with 2 rows of tan silk elongated chain-stitch. Piped yoke seams and armscyes. Cuffs, collar edge and front edges embellished with needlepoint rosebud clusters executed in red, olive, black, light and dark blue wool. 1 1/4” tuck just above hem, released. No evidence of front fasteners or ties. Speculated to have had a capelet. This is evident by the flowers stopping short of the chest area.Collection
