Description

Entirely hand-stitched infant short dress made of fine cotton printed with tiny brown or once-black spot pattern. Very high waist in front defined with a decorative woven white tape that forms a free-floating strap or belt in the back; wide, high straight neckline; flaring skirt. More of the tape forms the cuffs, defines the side front seams (no back seam), and makes a border about the hem. Evidence of (removed) 2 narrow tucks above hem and 3 more above insertion. Each short, puffed sleeve is shaped by 3 fine linen tape loops attached inside the armscye and brought to the outside through a tiny eyelet and hooked over a Dorset button. Drawstrings in the neck and waist. The cuffs, neckline and hem are finished with buttonhole loops.
