Description

Entirely hand-stitched man's pantaloons speculated to be made of white cotton fustian or heavy jean, indeterminate twill striped. Narrow waist, wide hips, full seat, legs with two seams at ankles, and fairly narrow calves. The outer seams end in ankle slits without closing ties or buttons. Wide fall. 5 button height on waist opening, welted watch pocket. High rise. Faced with linen. Braces buttons. No back waist adjustment. No side pockets. White cotton braid (shows the early use of civilian braid decoration) down the center front seam. Two side seams, and also outlining the side front buttonholes extending down into a small fancy knot.
