Description

Entirely hand-stitched boy's waistcoat made of black silk velvet. Lined with 2 kinds of white cotton and backed with a tan cambric. Two pairs of ties in the back made of handwoven cotton / linen. Single-breasted with flat buttons covered with what is speculated to be twilled silk / mohair fabric backed with what looks like a leather grommet through which cloth is pulled to form a shank. Closes from the neck down, the bottom edge is slightly pointed and seems to fall at the normal waist, small turn-over collar. Front edges and collar edged with narrow braid. Long false pocket welts placed high and level. Large armscyes. The shoulder seam falls well behind the shoulder.
