Description

Ice skates, all handmade. Speculated to be made of oak or chestnut wood. Sole with very narrow; narrow waist; square toes. Hand forged steel blade inserted along entire length of sole, short curved front end. Handmade screw attaches it at the heel, and a doubled narrow steel band inserted through a hole at the front top of the blade extends up through a hole in the sold, and is worked over the sole to left and right, clamping the two elements together. The sole has a wide hole worked through the toe and heel ends to receive leather straps. The toe part is missing. The heel strap on either side folds over a sturdy iron ring which holds an end of a heel strap. The strap that goes over the vamp is missing.
