Description

Entirely hand-stitched girls dress made of Delaine fabric; orange ground with alternating round 'buds,' one lilac with white surround, the other red with dark teal surround, superimposed on bleached-out-looking yellow leaves and bars. Infant bodice gathered into yoke with shallow wide neckline; lined with white cotton; back opening closed with tiny incised 4-hole mother of pearl buttons. Full long sleeves gathered into narrow cuffs; jockeys curved up to armscye. Set-in waistband. Short skirt, tuck above hem which is faced with pinked white cotton. Skirt was gathered with a layer of printed cotton to give body to it. Top stitched with white silk thread. Neck and jockeys bound with 1 1/8" fancy ribbon, also used to form a bowknot at the top of the sleeve. The ribbon has yellow ribbed brocade stripes on the sides with a deliciated brocaded pink rosebud trail down the center. Very lovingly made.
