Description

Entirely hand-stitched waistcoat made of Camlet (presumably mohair on a silk or cotton wrap) with black / ivory / green / red weft bands on ivory ground. Short; straight form, large armscyes, single breasted. Standing collar with slight notch, cut to align with body stripe pattern. Wide, very high pocket welt on either side, from side seam to near front; angled side edges, grain put at right angles to body. Back is heavy unbleached cotton with a pair of tabs having 6 pairs of eyelets and original plain woven linen tape ties in place. Lined with plain woven unbleached cotton. Nine opalescent glass beadlike buttons with a cotter-pin like shank run through the glass, topped with a raised checkerboard patterned disk, gilt brass or base metal.
