Description

Entirely hand-stitched dress made of thin, fine striped silk. The fabric is decorated with brocade floral vine stripe accents in shades of navy, gold, and peach. In several areas the weft is a rosy color, perhaps not so distracting when the dress color was fresh. High neck with small standing collar still bearing a handmade lace decoration in the form of 3 points. Smoothly fitted bodice with front opening with a hook and eye closure with tiny self-buttons on the outside. Very long, fairly pointed waist. The skirt is beautifully gauged but it has been turned. The skirt is underlined with light, brown plaid cotton. Faced hem. Short flaring sleeves trimmed with navy blue silk-covered wire passementerie border.
