"Black net lappet cap decorated with narrow black tulle ruffles edged with two entwined purple ribbons. Joined or darted at center. Peaked front edge, concentration of ruffling around ears; 2” purple ribbon ties or streamers. It seems likely to have been worn in half-mourning, given the purple and black combination."
