Description

One accordion made by M. Hohner with case. Accordion has leather straps and metal latches to hold it together, and carved wooden front and back boards. Treble keyboard has 21 push buttons while the bass keyboard has 8. Leather straps on the side allow the musician to properly hold the instrument. Stamped M. Hohner in multiple places.

Context

Mattias Hohner began making instrument in Trossingen, Germany in 1857. Eventually accordions and harmonicas became his specialty. This instrument belonged to the donors grandfather.

Small plaques with a photo of M. Hohner reading "M. Hohner Accordeon Best Made" adorn the instrument in numerous locations. "M. Honer Accordeon" is also stamped on the front and one the leather straps.
