Coat made of velvet. Heavy, black machine-made embroidered appliques down the front, around the hem, and at the wrists. An additional, more elaborate applique with knotted, beaded fringe adorns the shoulders and the back of the jacket. It is lined with quilted black silk and fastens down the front with black, fabric-covered buttons. The back hem flares out to fit over the dresses of the period. The collar is short and stands up. The sleeves are slightly wider at the upper arm and elbow, with a narrow wrist.Collection
