Description

Entirely hand-stitched day dress made of lightweight Balzarine fabric (wool weft and cotton warp). Printed with a Greek key and lozenge design, running vertically. Bodice has a high round neckline with drooped sleeves, which are both full and knife pleated to the armscyes. Top of the sleeves has three grosgrain ribbons attached for design near the cap. The bodice has a center front opening with a hook and eye closure. The waistline is straight across. Lined with plain white cotton fabric. Bones at the center front sides. Bottom edge of the hem is edged with brown twill tape. The skirt has a pocket on the right-hand side, which was stuffed with fabric remnants of the same dress fabric.
