Nathan Clark, born 1787, moved to Athens at 18 years old to start a pottery. Clark ran the business by himself until 1829 when he was joined by Ethan S. Fox, a relative by marriage. By 1838, Clark retired from the pottery and sold his share of the business to Fox.
Nathan Clark Jr. eventually took over the business from Fox but began making the potter with "N. Clark Jr." differentiating the two Clarks.Collection
