Description

Two piece reception dress of gray silk taffeta. A) Fitted hip-length bodice, longer in front and back, and fastened with faux pearl buttons (blown glass) up front to high rounded neckline. Diagonal graded pleating from waist to shoulder. Triangular shaped revers extending to pleated stand-up collar at back. Sleeves fitted to elbow and finished with wide cuffs edged above and below pleats and rosette. Watch pocket inside left front waist. Three pairs of buttons (now missing) on back tail flap. B) Full, floorlength skirt cut for bustle trimmed with flounces, pleating, scalloped frills, tailored straps, etc. Two large bustle puffs, with strap tied in a bow around the bottom one. Worn by Hannah Mulhanen Humphrey - notes indicate it may have been wedding dress (?) but it this is unsubstantiated.
