Description

Hand-stitched cotton velveteen printed with stripes of ivory, black and olive (now a little faded) having paisley motifs in red and orange. Deep brim extending below cheeks, round crown and short bavolet. Black silk piped edges and seams. Lined with cotton printed with narrow solid and figured stripes in brown, ochre and red. Bavolet lined with off white silk (ribbon) with checkered pattern, probably the same used for ties. The circle has a bit of multicolored basketry to reinforce it, and a repair layer of cardboard.
