Entirely hand stitched sheer cotton. Elbow length undersleeves with 2” cuffs. Embroidered with white silk twist. On outside of sleeve are two lengthwise stripes of double rows formed of coarse fagotting, each terminating in a Teneriffe lace wheel; an additional wheel is between the two stripes. The cuff edges are finished with similar fagotting and zigzag stitched border. Mother of pearl button at lower edge of cuff. Casing with narrow silk ribbon at top edge. The whole is rather crudely made by comparison with the usual 19th century standard.Collection
