A glass plate negative, possibly collodion, of a scene in a city whereby a uniformed policeman is handing something to a driver of a cart. The city may be Rochester, New York. The cart is labeled "Rochester Cold Storage & Ice Co." and "COAL". The cart is drawn by a horse, mule or donkey standing in harness with hames. The cart is wood with wooden wheels, with metal rims and hub. The cart driver is wearing a workman's cap and belted jacket. The policeman, standing below the cart, carries a portfolio or clipboard, and is dressed in a billed cap with insignia, jacket with high collar and badge on breast, and puttees. The background is out of focus, but shows a beaux arts building in the right distance, and an industrial type building behind the scene. The scene is taken from a low level. The color of the negative is "coffee and cream", which may indicate a collodion print.Photograph Details
