Lady's chemise of plain weave cotton. Body is gathered slightly to neckline, which is scooping but not exactly wide. Neckline has edge of cotton strip, and band, into which the body of the chemise is gathered and set. Top edge of neckline band is trimmed with machine-embroidered whitework tape, as well as the end of the short sleeves. Short sleeves are shaped to fit into armscye, rather than square with a gusset in underarm. Sleeves have rows of tucks sewn in place.
Center front opening of chemise with placket area, button closure of carved MOP buttons. Placket are is trimmed with more machine-embroidered whitework tape. Armscyes and shoulder area or reinforced with shaped cotton panels sewn into place. Bottom hem edge has 2.5" deep hem.
Entirely machine-stitched save for some hand-finishing inside and the buttonholes.Collection
