Very fine, but stiff, tissue-like silk yardage, with dainty brocade textured narrow bands. Peach weft and selvages on a pale turquoise warp. The beat was inconsistent enough to cause slight color intensity variations as the number of picks per inch changed. Hand loomed? Selvage is excellently flat but the fabric width varies a little. 19 1/2" wide by 13 yards long. I wonder if this was also an Italian silk. Too lightweight to be fashionable in the 1870s. The color and texture keep making me think it dates closer to the turn of the centuryCollection
