Description

Entirely hand-stitched breeches made of brown corduroy. Unlined. Strap at the knee with a placket with 5 small simple copper or brass buttons. Backed with coarse linen and napped wool. Wide fall, with 4 buttonholes and the same buttons as at the knees. Deep, high waistband with 2 pr. Hand-stitched eyelets on either side of a slit in the center back. PW linen tape tie-in holes. The front has wide pockets across the hips. Welt pocket near the top of the right waistband with coarse linen linings. A variety of brass buttons at the center front where they wouldn’t show. The front closes with 3 1” brass coat buttons, each different. One plain (alpha shank), one with a raised, tooled rim (looped shank), and one with die-stamped wheel motif bearing traces of gilt (ring shank). The waistband is lined with the same coarse linen which is also used to cover the back seam allowances. Fall lined with thin twilled tan wool.
