Older couple. Lady wears silk check or plaid day dress with straight waistline, CF opening of bodice with true buttons. Small whitework collar with CF medallion brooch of what is most likely a dark stone. Sleeves of dress are full with black velvet ribbon to be seen trimming area above cuff, which itself is filled in with a white undersleeve. Waist also appears to have added velvet ribbon. The dress is from the 1850s and has been adapted. She wears over her shoulders what appears to be a fine silk figured silk shawl, with scalloped edges. Hair parted and dressed with ribbons and netting, gathering around her ears, with ribbons slowing down, untied, to her shoulders.
Man/husband is seated with crossed legs. She wears leather boots and wool trousers, medium fullness. Black wool frock coat with satin silk waistcoat. White shirt with turndown collar and black silk cravat.Collection
