Description

Infant petticoat of fine white cotton. Body of petticoat is set into a waistband, cut on grain, with fine gauging. Buttonhole and button closure on waistband, button missing. Hem edge of petticoat has two rows of tucks, a 1" deep hem, and is trimmed with machine-woven bobbin lace tape in diamond and spider pattern. Machine-stitched, with some hand-stitching finishing on the buttonhole. Came with note that reads: "Katherine Monique Hucker's petticoat - she was a tiny baby (later Mrs. Geo. Griffin)." Katherine Monique Hucker was born in 1888 and died in 1963. Her mother was Jennie Kate Hoffman, whose wedding bodice is in the collection 2024.25.002a-b.
