Zeeuwse Knoop (Zeeland button), a traditional part of the costume of men from the Zeeland Islands in SW Netherlands. Pin is sterling silver. A central ball sits in 2 layers of open wire work surrounded by a ring of smaller balls each on 1 layer of round wire work. Tube hinge, c clasp and pin stem extends beyond the pin. On clasp are 2 sets of hallmarks, a sword indicating date made and letters GDL. Women later began wearing these brooches. 7/8" diameterCollection
