Morning dress, entirely hand stitched, made of block printed cotton, grayish
reticulated ground with small sprays of colorful flowers, 2-step green, red, pink,
yellow, blue and black. The bodice is gathered from the back shoulder seam over the
bust to the waistband, stayed just below the front shoulder by a piped ‘strap’. V
neckline plunges to the waistband which is higher in front. A wide self pelerine, with
self frill, is attached to the neckline with piping. Enormous sleeve tapering sharply to
the narrow cuff that buttons with one fancy MOP button. One sleeve has a stitch taken
in the back above the elbow, presumably to help shape the sleeve draping. Skirt opens
part way below the waistband which closes with a pair of hooks and eyes. Skirt is
smooth at CF, has pleats at sides and back, the CB has tight gauffered fullness. Bodice
and sleeves lined with substantial white cotton, suggesting that was enough to give the desired fullness and shaping without puffs. The hem is faced with white cotton.Collection
