Description

An adult woman's quilted petticoat made from a dark olive green wool weft and dark black wool warp. Lined with dark brown cotton in a plain weave. Interfaced with cotton batting. Quilting is machine-stitched, with upper portion of petticoat in diagonals in black thread, while bottom half is quilted with diamond machine-stitches in blue thread. Set in black cotton waistband with deep, chunky knife pleats in CF and CB. Button located in CB closure, and is made of gutta percha. Upper hip portion of petticoat where pleats fall is not interfaced or quilted with stitches. Hem of petticoat has knife pleated trim of same wool fabric, above which is a strip of black velvet hand-embroidered with blue leafy vine. Inner hem edge is double-bound with two different color cotton braided twill tape - black and dark green. Inside lining has a lot of piecing and repairs, as does upper hip area. Tears and holes in wool outer fabric, but still structurally sound.
