Description

"Pinkish ivory fine silk. 1” welts with 6 lozenges of 9 holes, also a C. Seams at sides of foot, under heel. High, lavishly embroidered and lacy clocks extending well above the ankle, down the side of the foot and into a point above the toes with a double diamond design above the toe. Insides of heels lined with another layer presumably added by owner. Rounded toe. “C. S. Starr” inked - or more likely stamped - inside welts seems inconsistent with the early date of the stockings.9” x 25.5”"
