Description

Hand knit heavy white cotton socks, shin height. Narrow decorative cuff pointed toes and heels characteristic of Greece, the Near East, the Ukraine. (The sock folds very flat when folded in a “frontal” arrangement.) The latter seems to be the most kindred. There is a drawstring that is an extension of the crocheted loops worked around the top. Beaded bouquets worked at each ankle and the instep; 2 borders worked over the toes. Large glass beads: Opaque: pink, sky blue, black. d blue. Transparent: d green, l green, y green, red, yellow. Translucent: turquoise. Designs are symmetrical between both feet.
