Description

Entirely hand stitched quilted petticoat, brown silk (very fine soft rep — lustring) lined with tan “cambric” glazed cotton lining; thin brown batting. Hem bound with brown wool braid tape. Four gore sections each 20” wide at hem; waist dips lower in front where there are no gathers. Gathered into brown plain weave cotton waistband with modern blue denim reinforcement applied to place where button is attached. Small black plastic or vegetable ivory button. Hand made buttonhole. Quilted full length in straight parallel lines 1/2” apart but toward top the spacing is expanded to about 1”. Stitched with brown and black cotton threads.
