Description

Petticoat, entirely hand stitched olive-brown silk taffeta, lined with brown glazed cotton on the bottom, and darker brown unglazed cotton above. Stitched with brown thread and with a thin light thread (apparently a ‘ran-out’ situation). Straight panels gathered all around with small pleats concentrating fullness in back; heavy white cotton waistband with PW cotton tape ties. Hems turned to inside and quilted. Deep feather quilted border design on diamond ground; above the knees it is simple horizontal quilting with one diagonal set, widely spaced. 33.5” long; 100” circumference.
