Entirely hand stitched. Outer fabric is very thin, soft butterscotch gold silk satin; lining is fine geometric dark brown milled print. Diamond quilting on upper section; 1’ wide band above hem has double-line diamond quilting and narrow border stitched at edge. Self patch pocket, pieced, on proper left. Made of several panels seamed (one pieced) before being placed on lining, then quilted so only one seam shows. Can’t see selvages and determine width of fabric. May or may not have been recycled silk. Fine, dark wool batting. No binding on hem. Skirt gathered into narrow brownish cotton waistband which has one long, cotton twill tape tie and the remains of the other. Seems all original. Quite long with large waist although may have been intended to overlap for bustle effect.Collection
