Man’s socks, ankle- high; thin ivory (slightly pinkish) silk with 2 pairs of pale tan silk stripes in cuff (no hole-marks) and toes which are wide and slightly rounded. Square heels, seam under foot. Simple stripe clock with small compound leaf at top. Foot length 10”; height about 12.”
"Stored in box 2008.087. Stored in box 2008.087. Inked inscription on cut-corner paper label in center of lid: “Waistcoat & Stock worn by Elisha Dyer at his marriage with Anna J. Hoppin Tuesday Oct 8th 1833 Prov- R.I.” I presume these, not the black ones, were worn for the marriage ceremony.From the family of Elisha Dyer, b 1811. Married Anna Jones Hoppin in 1833. Governor of RI 1857-1859. Son Elisha Jr. governor of RI . Son William Jones Dyer b 1850. Married Lillian Pitman Greene. (LGD) Their daughter, Anna Jones Dyer (AJD) wrote some of these notes."Collection
